Offline conversion imports: show Google Ads which leads became sales

A form fill is not a sale. If you close deals by phone, email or in person, Google Ads only sees the enquiry, so it chases more enquiries, good or bad. We feed your real results from your CRM back into Google Ads, so smart bidding learns to find customers, not just leads.

Why it matters

Why enquiries alone mislead smart bidding

Imagine two keywords. One brings 20 enquiries a month, mostly tyre-kickers. The other brings 8, and half of them sign. If Google Ads only sees enquiries, it will push more budget to the first keyword every time. It’s doing exactly what it was told to do.

Offline conversion imports fix that. When a lead becomes qualified, gets a quote or signs, your CRM tells Google Ads. Google connects that result to the original ad click, then starts bidding for more people like the ones who actually paid you.

This matters most for businesses with a sales process: B2B, professional services, real estate, education, finance, solar, building, and any service where the real value is decided after the first call.

It sits on top of clean GA4 conversion tracking and call tracking. Those catch the enquiry. Offline imports tell Google what happened next.

What should Google Ads optimise for?

Pick a stage to see what Google learns from it. Most businesses do best feeding in more than one.

How it works

From ad click to closed deal

Four steps, running quietly in the background every day.

  1. Click

Someone clicks your ad. Google adds a click ID to the web address.

  2. Capture

Your form saves the click ID and the email address with the new lead in your CRM.

  3. Close

Your team updates the lead as it moves along: qualified, quoted, won.

  4. Import

Each day, results go to Google Ads with the click ID or the scrambled email, and Google matches them to the right ad.

Using the email as well as the click ID is called enhanced conversions for leads. It’s Google’s recommended approach, because an email survives the sales process better than a click ID in a web address. See our enhanced conversions setup.

Connections

CRMs and tools we connect

HubSpot and Salesforce connect directly through Google Ads Data Manager. Most other CRMs connect through Zapier, a scheduled file upload or a custom connection. If your leads live in a spreadsheet or job management software, we can work with that too.

  • HubSpot
  • Salesforce
  • Zoho CRM
  • Pipedrive
  • ServiceM8
  • simPRO
  • Google Sheets
  • BigQuery
  • Zapier
  • Custom CRMs via API

Some tools connect directly, others through a connector or a custom integration. We confirm the most reliable route for yours before we start.

What changed on 15 June 2026

Google changed how offline conversions get into Google Ads this year.

  • Google stopped letting new users send offline conversions through the old Google Ads API route. New setups now go through Google’s Data Manager and the Data Manager API.
  • Existing connections were given time to move across, but older plugins and custom scripts should be checked before they quietly stop working.
  • Google now recommends enhanced conversions for leads for new setups, matching on a scrambled email as well as the click ID.
  • We build new setups on Data Manager from day one, and we check existing imports as part of every Google Ads audit.

How we set it up

Six steps to smarter bidding

We move carefully here, because changing what Google optimises for changes how your budget is spent.

  1. Agree the stages

We define what a qualified lead and a sale mean for your business, and roughly what each is worth.

  2. Capture the click

We make sure every form stores the Google click ID and the email address, and that your CRM keeps them with the lead.

  3. Create the conversion actions

We set up a conversion action in Google Ads for each stage you want to send.

  4. Connect the CRM

We connect your CRM through Data Manager, a trusted connector or an automated upload, so results flow daily without anyone touching a spreadsheet.

  5. Test and match

We push test leads through, then check Google Ads shows them against the right campaign.

  6. Move the bidding

Once there is enough data, we shift bidding towards qualified leads or real revenue, step by step, so results don’t dip while Google relearns.

The goal isn’t more leads. It’s more of the leads that turn into customers, at a cost that makes sense for your business.
